The Famous “San Diego Chicken” Is Coming To HODGETOWN
World Renown Mascot and Beloved Sports Entertainer Will Be Making Appearance at HODGETOWN July 17

AMARILLO, Texas – The Famous Chicken, also historically known as the “San Diego Chicken”, is coming to Amarillo for the first time in nearly a decade to perform at HODGETOWN during the Sod Poodles Wednesday, July 17 game when they face off against the Springfield Cardinals. Presented by the Downtown Athletic Club, the Famous Chicken will be seen during multiple inning breaks throughout the night and will also be signing autographs for fans following the game. Gates for the 7:05 p.m. game are scheduled to open at 6:00 p.m.

“We are beyond excited to have the one and only San Diego Chicken come to HODGETOWN in honor and celebration of our inaugural season,” said Sod Poodles President and General Manager Tony Ensor. “Many of our fans may have heard about him or seen him as a teen or young adult and now have the opportunity to bring their own children to see the greatest entertainer in baseball history. A whole new generation of fans will get the once in a lifetime opportunity to create their own family memories and witness The Famous San Diego Chicken in person!”

The Famous Chicken has reached icon status as a sports and entertainment personality throughout the nation and the world, having performed in nine different countries and in all 50 U.S. states.

The Chicken’s comedy sports shows are without script, rehearsals or second takes. No safe and cozy studio for Ted Giannoulas. His sketches draw on slapstick, parody, and visual antics, all woven throughout interludes of ballgames, much to the surprised delight of sports fans.

His impact is such that Sporting News editors named him as one of “The Top 100 Most Powerful People in Sports of the 20th Century”, a list that features Muhammad Ali, Babe Ruth, Jesse Owens, Pete Rozelle, Ted Turner, and Wayne Gretzky. In his career, Giannoulas has played to more than sixty million people in live attendances – a feat which ranks with the likes of the Rolling Stones and George Strait.

Tickets for the July 17 game featuring the Famous Chicken are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased online at SodPoodles.com or in-person at the HODGETOWN box office or by calling 806-803-9547.
