PBS & League of Women Voters: Candidate Debate
Amarillo
TX
USA
To learn about the candidates and propositions on your ballot, you can pick up a nonpartisan Voters Guide at any public library, and at many businesses around Amarillo and Canyon. You can also go to the League’s online Voters Guide, www.VOTE411.org, to create your own personalized ballot.
And to see and hear the candidates live, you are invited to the first-ever Virtual Candidates Forum presented by LWV-Amarillo and Panhandle PBS, to be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, October 6. At this time, 24 candidates in contested races have confirmed their appearance at the Forum, including candidates for US Senate, US Congress, Railroad Commission, Texas Supreme Court, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and State Board of Education, as well as Potter County races for County Attorney and Constable. We will also have speakers to tell us about the pros and cons of three City of Amarillo propositions on the ballot. At the end of the Forum, we will see one-minute videos made by candidates in uncontested races, telling us about their plans for the office they are seeking.
This Forum will be conducted as a Zoom webinar. You can watch on your computer or your smartphone, or just listen on your phone by dialing in. All the links and numbers are provided at the bottom of this email. You can submit questions for the candidates in advance of the Forum by emailing the League at amarillolwv@gmail.com or by calling us at 806-337-2148. We will use as many audience questions as time allows. Questions must be received by noon on the day of the Forum, Tuesday, October 6.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization. We never support or oppose parties or candidates. Instead, we seek to register and educate voters, and we work hard to encourage everyone to vote. We envision a democracy in which every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge and the confidence to participate.
Thanks for your support of the League!
