Rev. Thomas D. Sands to speak at “Amarillo Branch NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet: A Community In Unity”

The Amarillo Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is pleased to announce that Rev. Thomas D. Sands, pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church will be the keynote speaker at the Branch’s annual Dr. R.W. Jones Freedom Fund Banquet, November 2nd, 7PM at the Amarillo Civic Center Grand Plaza. This year’s theme for the event is “A Community In Unity”.

Chairperson Jerri Glover said, “The Committee and Branch selected the keynote speaker and the theme in order to focus on uniting all of Amarillo. It is important that we not allow ourselves or our community to be dragged into the pervasive divisive attitudes that so easily dominate our news every day. Amarillo can be an example of a community that sees all it has in common with its neighbors and works toward making our city better for all citizens.”

Tickets and tables for the event may be purchased by visiting http://amarillonaacp.org. Visitors to the site will also be offered opportunities to purchase ads in the souvenir program, sponsor the event or support the event as a Friend of the NAACP.

Questions about the event, tickets, ads or sponsorships may be directed to Jerri Glover, 806-881-6810 or jerri.glover@gmail.com.
