Have a Say in the Future of the Eastridge Neighborhood
Fall Festival Set for Friday
AMARILLO – More than half a million dollars has been set aside for the development of the Eastridge neighborhood. Friday will be a great opportunity for residents to help determine how this money will be spent for the neighorhood’s future.
Join Eastridge Elementary and the City of Amarillo (COA) as the first Eastridge Neighborhood Plan in-person outreach event is set for Friday (Oct. 22) at Eastridge Elementary School, located at the corner of Northeast 14th Ave. and Evergreen Street. COA is partnering with Eastridge Elementary School for the Fall Carnival from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
COA, in partnership with Potter County, is developing the plan for the Eastridge neighborhood. The plans are designed to build organizational capacity, form consensus for goals and strategies among stakeholders and provide a roadmap for future public and private reinvestment.
The project kicked off virtually in January and has been guided by a citizen advisory committee. Input gathered from virtual meetings and surveys has helped the committee draft a vision statement, areas of focus, along with goals and strategies.
Attendees can view visual examples of recommendations for high priority projects to be implemented within the first year, as well as longer term “transformative” initiatives. Attendees will be asked to vote to determine how $650,000 in bond funds will be spent in Eastridge. The COA Parks & Recreation Department will provide fun games and activities. Carnival food will be available. Other COA departments will be available to share information and collect feedback. Members of the Eastridge Advisory Committee will assist with activities and outreach.
