Amarillo Fire Department: Fall Safety Town event
1111 TX-335 Loop
Amarillo, TX 79118
Monday, September 30 through Friday, October 4, Amarillo Fire Department will be hosting its Fall Safety Town event. The event will be 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., each day and will be held at Randall County Fire Station, 1111 E. Loop 335. Over 5,000 students, from across the Texas Panhandle, will be attending the event throughout the week.
Safety Town is a partnership among over 15 different local agencies (listed below), offering a unique, fun and hands on approach at safety education for children. This innovative event is a field trip opportunity that is open to all schools in the Texas Panhandle.
AFD hosts two Safety Towns during the school year. The Fall Safety Town is exclusively for 3rd
– 5th grade classes. An additional Safety Town is scheduled for May, 2020, which will be hosted for Kindergarten – 2nd grade classes. Our first Safety Town was held in May 2019 and saw nearly 4,000 students.
Not only is this event a fun and unique opportunity for students to interact with local first responders and emergency providers, but the event solves multiple logistic obstacles associated with trying to provide important safety messages to the growing number of students in Amarillo Independent School District, Canyon Independent School District and rural school districts across our region. Safety Town also provides a safe and sterile environment for students to interact with first responders, see their equipment and learn about community service.
Media and City Leaders are invited to attend this event. This event is only open to schools and registration for next week’s event is closed. Interviews will be conducted at the event by Amarillo Fire Department’s Public Information Officer. Please direct any inquiries to this office, 806.378.9340.
