Amarillo 9/11 Ceremony
Remembering and honoring the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks on 9/11 at the World Trade Center, Shanksville, PA and the United States Pentagon.
This year will mark the 18th anniversary of these attacks that claimed the lives of 343 FDNY Fire Fighters, 37 Police Officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department and 23 NYPD Police Officers. This year, 22 additional Firefighters will be added to the 9/11 Memorial Wall in New York City, NY. Over 200 First Responders have died since 2001 because of 9/11-related conditions, according to the New York City Bill de Blasio.
This ceremony will begin at 8:45 AM and take place at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial, 4101 S Georgia. The Amarillo Fire Department Pipe and Drums, Amarillo Police Department’s Rifle Team and Honor Guards of AFD and APD, along with participants from other local First Responder agencies will be participating in the event. The ceremony is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.
