GriefShare at Paramount Baptist Church

Here is some information:

GriefShare sessions will be held each Tuesday, August 2, 2022– October 27, 2022 at 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo. Building C, Room 158. Entry door faces North.

GriefShare is both a non-denominational biblical seminar and a support group for those dealing with the loss of a loved one.  It is a 13-week, structured program, featuring nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics.  Each weekly session consists of a video to watch, plus a discussion that allows group participants to share (if they wish) how they are dealing with their loss, and a workbook for journaling, personal study and application of concepts presented on the videos. Attendees are encouraged to participate as little or as much as they are comfortable with doing.

It is so difficult to lose a loved one and glad you found a support group.  GriefShare was very helpful for me after the loss of my brother Rex (four years ago this month)

Blessed to be a part of this ministry.

Executive Director

The first Saturday of each month the Texas Panhandle War Memorial hosts a one-hour lecture/seminar on topics related to military history. These lecture/seminars are free to the public. They are held at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center, 4111 S. Georgia, at 1:30 p.m. Snacks are available to the attendees. The lecture/seminar series is made possible by a grant from the Mary E. Bivins Foundation.

Our next lecture/seminar will be on Saturday October 1, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. It will be presented by Ms. Darlene Smith. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR); she has a personal lineage of a patriot that fought in the Revolutionary War. The DAR commissioned the statue of the WWI Doughboy “Ready” that was recently moved from Elwood Park to the War Memorial. “Ready” has quite a history of his own that reflects the love of our veterans in Amarillo.  Darlene will speak on the history of DAR and its purpose which involves the value of monuments and the educational value of a statue such as “Ready”.

Take advantage of our new hours on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and tour our military history museum, test your knowledge in our high-tech Education Center with five computer kiosks displaying information about 11 U. S. wars, and visit our outdoor displays including a Huey helicopter, supersonic jet fighter/bomber, a piece of the USS Arizona deck and superstructure, and our monuments to over 1,550 Panhandle residents who gave their lives in wars.

We encourage you to visit our museum Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to tour the museum is free for veterans; adults are $5, children and students $2. Our telephone number is 806-350-8387. Follow us on Facebook and visit our website www.TexasPanhandleWarMemorial.com
