Municipal Court Launches Compliance Campaign
Amarillo, Texas – Beginning Thursday, Feb. 1, the City of Amarillo’s Municipal Court will launch their annual compliance campaign in the hopes to resolve any outstanding City of Amarillo citations residents may have. Municipal Court will work with residents to reach a fair resolution of all City violations throughout the month of February.
“We have numerous ways that citizens may settle any case filed with the Court,” says Court Administrator Victoria Jaramillo Medley. “The goal of this campaign is really to educate and inform the public on those many services that make the Court easily accessible while still providing a level of personal accountability in the form of compliance with Court orders.”
Anyone with an outstanding citation is encouraged to call Municipal Court at (806) 378-3082, email firstname.lastname@example.org, visit courts.amarillo.gov, or even come in person to take the necessary steps to resolve the matter. For those pleading “guilty” or “no contest,” many cases may be paid online. If a warrant has been issued on the citation, there are still options.
“Municipal Court Judges, as well as Court staff, will work diligently with each individual to find the best possible solution,” says Medley. “Depending on the circumstances, options include trials before a judge or jury, payment plans, community service, deferred dispositions, and driving safety courses.”
During the month of February, an informational card will be included in City water bills and active warrant postcards will be mailed. The current warrant list, as well as information for online payment and court times, is accessible at courts.amarillo.gov. Municipal Court is located at 201 S.E. 4th Ave.
